November: convalescing to normal

So I came home from hospital and slept a lot, had a few visitors, did a jigsaw puzzle.

This is friendship gelato paid for as a gift from E and G, and delivered by A.

Here is a bunch of flowers from K, orange because she asked what my favourite colour is and I answered honestly currently orange. Could have been ugly but I loved them.

The sweet peas and cornflower hung on all through November.

Julia had a little picnic on Lucy's birthday, on a Tuesday, which I was able to go to with parent's driving. L can almost walk.

There have been some other nice things such as a picnic with home group friends at Morpeth.

THis is Percy trying to get back under the oven after I blocked it off. It has been a battle as he is very smart and works on the nails.

A clever thing I did was schedule appointments during week 2 of sick leave, so each day I had a little outing to the dentist, doctor, physio or optometrist etc, got those jobs done, while building up my energy, and still having mostly restful days.

The 3rd week I started working from home, building up the hours.

On the weekend, I was thankfully well enough to drive to Sydney on Friday afternoon, stay at AMs place, and spend Saturday seeing friends and going to the Matthias Media celebration/farewell/reunion thing at Moore College.

In the morning we picniced at Ashfield.

I filled in time in the city, at the fabric store, Muji and Gorman, then caught the bus to Newtown.

It was heaven to see my old work family again and celebrate faithful leadership and fellowship. And a few of us had a mini after party catch up.

J generously dropped me home, although I had a good PT plan I was very tired. My brain has been struggling with things more than usual. It might be tiredness, or maybe I used that pain button too much. The other night I struggled to do 26 minus 12. So the day in Sydney was full of brain slips like not paying attention to train stations, tapping off, asking for help because I couldn't face trying to understand timetables and signage. It was what I imagine being an old lady visiting the city for the first time is like.

I bought home a haul of books! Which is optimistic because I rarely read print anymore. But they are some really good stories. I did read one already.

This is me recording cello parts for some carols for the Christmas Day church video. Last night we recorded the video for the songs, miming. So I played a solo all wrong notes but nobody will know it's just showing the bow moving. Can't wait to see it.

T got inspired to make wreaths, we ended up deciding on air plants for something different but air plants are expensive so only made small minimalist ones. I made one for me one for A, and very happy with them. If they actually live and grow, I may make more air plant things. Someone at work wants to buy some.

A family (minus Heather) lunch for Matt's birthday.

And that's all! It was a lovely month really. I am in a better place mentally now the operation is done, and my stomach is better too, I've actually fit into my hard-waisted work shorts this week. I've gone back to the office, but I still need to do minimum hours only and have a good long rest with my eyes closed at lunch time. It's hard to make time to rest, because there are so many things on at this time of year, and I've just wanted to catch up on the garden jobs, and I sewed some of my fabric from Sydney into a dress last weekend, pictures to come next month. But I'm making myself watch Netflix on the weekend, I'm not watching Christmas movies, but enjoying the nostalgia of old movie stars like Jackie Chan, Meg Ryan, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, the 90s era greats.

So just a short post this month because I have to get back to my Jackie Chan movie and rest some more.
