This cushion I made on Saturday night when I was feeling very tired and sort of miserable. It was easy to make (which is good because unpicking is NOT therapeutic), but the process to collect everything was involved, and I'm proud of the end result, so I'll tell all the minute details.
I stumbled across the Winter Nest print online, loved it, and bought one off Kristen Doran directly. She lives in Sydney, so postage was cheap and I really like that it is a local design. I then saw her featured in the Sydney Magazine so I felt totally on trend! I was going to make it into a cushion or something to give someone, but then I felt that I wasn't certain she would like it and I love it so much myself, I changed my mind. It is mine, my precious.
Despina (the Greek bearing gifts) had given me an old red cushion ages ago, before I weaned her down to recipes and pegs only. Ugly, but comfy. So I didn't have to buy a cushion insert., hurrah!
I went to Lincraft and got piece of green denim for a couple of dollars. It doesn't quite match, but it's only on the back anyway, so I can live with it. And all my cushions are different greens.
Then I tried to go back to Lincraft on Saturday to buy a zipper and some green thread and stuff, but it was closed down! I had to go to Tapestry Craft instead. There are not enough craft shops here, compared to Maitland.
So I finally had everything. I cut matching 17" squares from my green denim and my print, and sewed the zipper on the bottom of the print and one side of the square, then sewed the rest of the square together. Ta-da!

That cushion is gorgeous, I'm very proud of you :)
I met Despina at church the other day! I think it's the same Despina.
Thankyou x
She should be famous! She is one of a kind.
